When asked why he deserved to win Top Design and why his competitors didn't, Matt said his rooms have been consistent, and
Carisa doesn’t meet the challenges, and Andrea is a good architect, but her rooms are not livable. Kelly liked the furniture placement in this room and said it has classic appeal. Jonathan said that this room didn't have Matt's signature sense of polish but that the room looked expensive. Matt won on an overall luxury merit.

Andrea set herself aside from her fellow designers saying that she is not afraid to take risks. She said that Carisa's designs have a strong voice, but not a voice that grows and mutates. She said that Matt is afraid to take risks. Jonathan said he liked the windows. Margaret said that Andrea captured the feeling of the Elle DecoreDecor room that she used for inspiration, and that this room was not gloomy. Kelly said the weight of sofa in the back of the room was good, but that Andrea needed more delicate furniture. Jonathan agreed that the furniture was all at the same level, horizontally. Andrea was sent home because the aesthetic of the room captured the Elle DecoreDecor cover, but furniture didn’t.

When asked why she should win, Carisa said it's because Carisa because she has so much to gain from winning. The judges didn't like that answer, so Carisa rephraisedrephrased her answer to say "I’m more out of the box and have my own perspective. Jonathan Adler said he liked backwallback-wall treatment. Kelly: said there was too much color, and
Margaret said there were too many too many accessories.
