This is an index for the Extreme Design Challenges for Top Design: Season One. However, if you don't think these are creative enough, let's hear what extreme design challenges you would like to see.Episode 1 | January 31, 2007: The designers were given 5 decorative objects from a "mystery celebrity," and were set to the task of designing a room based on what they thought the mystery celebrity would want. Each team was given $50,000 from this "client," two hours for furniture shopping, and two days to design a room. Oh yeah, and they had to work in teams. Needless to say, there were several instances where opinions differed, and in the case of Michael and John, there was absolute hatred. Heather and Lisa also did not agree at all on the direction of the room, which ended up destroying their chances to become the new Top Designer.Episode 2 | February 7, 2007:Design a Kid's Dream Room. The designers were given profiles (interests, hobbies, etc.) of their clients, but not told their ages. When their actual clients were revealed to them, the designers had to adapt their adult-oriented designs AND supply purchases to the kids! The designers had a budget of $8,000 each for furniture and had to design and construct the bed for the room. They were given $400 for a trip to Target to buy linens and tchochkes - except for last weeks winners, Elizabeth and Goil, they each got an extra $100.Episode 3 | February 14, 2007:Design and build a beach cabana. The designers were split into teams of three, and each team was given a postcard from a destination that was to influence their design. The three destinations were Miami, Tahiti and St. Tropez. The teams were broken up like this: There were three major jobs to be divided among the group; one member was to work with the carpenter, one member was to go to the fabric store, and one member was to go to Pier One and pick out furniture and accessories. The teams and jobs were broken up like this:Miami:Matt, fabricErik, furnitureElizabeth, carpentry

Tahiti:Michael , fabricFelicia, furnitureAndrea, carpentrySt. Tropez:Carisa, fabric
Ryan, furniture
Goil, carpentry

In the end, they were judged on overall design, originality, ingenuity, teamwork, and the ability to incorporate the destination's look into their design. The winners would receive a weekend getaway to the Viceroy hotel in Santa Monica. Erik could not be eliminated because he won immunity with last week's Top Design.

Episode 4 | February 21, 2007:
The designers were allowed to meet their clients this time. Their clients were students from the top primiere interior design schools in L.A. The top designers were to design a post-college living space where their clients could eat, sleep and work. The size of the space was only 12x12, and they were allowed 2.5 days for the challenge.

And of course, because the challenge needs a twist, they had to incorporate pieces from a garage sale in their designs. They were given a budget of $500.

Episode 5 | March 7, 2007
As Todd told the designers, this challenge is a family affair. The designers were to come up with a model for the Bell family's garage, incorporating everything that they wanted, including room for the car, an office, storage space and a theatrical stage for the kids. They had to build the model in 2 hours. Whoever had the best model got immunity from being eliminated this week, but they also had to be the Project Manager for the rest of the team, and all designers had to build-out the vision of the winner's model. As Matt said, "Get me a match, and that's the solution right there." Episode 6 | March 14, 2007As Todd told the designers, this challenge was to design a one-of-a-kind party for Bacardi Limion, as sponsored by Elle Decor. The designers were judged on how well they engaged the 5 senses, their personal contribution, their team-work, and what the guests at the party said about their design. They weren't allowed to attend the party, but were allowed to watch a monitor and listen to guests talk about their designs.Episode 7 | March 21, 2007: With a budget of $42,000, the designers were to create a private dining experience around the chef's head table. This chef turned out to be Head Judge Tom Colicchio from Top Chef. All they knew was that this mystery chef, who would also be a mystery judge, preferred modern cuisine with natural ingredients. They knew that the chef's style was eclectic, and that the chef preferred handmade arts and crafts with a mid-twentieth century aesthetic. They had two days to complete the tasks. Episode 8 | March 28, 2007:Todd told the designers that they needed to create luxury suites for travelor’s needs. Each designer was to pick up a card which represented either Fire, Earth, Air or Water, and decorate the room according to what card they chose. They were given a budget of $35,000, and 3 days for the challenge.
Carisa chose Air, Andrea chose Earth
Goil chose Fire, and Matt chose Water.
