  • Todd opposes the use of animal fur in fashion, and is dedicated to utilizing only synthetic materials in his clothing and interior design. This "pet" cause has made him a valued celebrity member of PETA.

  • He designed his first dress at age 15, constructing it by stitching together some pillowcases from K-Mart.

  • No one can say the guy's not unique -- fans of his appearances on House of Style's "Todd Time" segments may recall he taught his acolytes how to dye their hair with Kool-Aid and wallpaper their dorm room walls with contact paper and photocopied pictures.

  • In 1999, Oldham designed a leopard-clad Barbie.

Originally a couture fashion designer with stores in New York City, Oldham has become celebrated as a translator of American style on a broader scale, evolving diverse graphic, interior, and product designs for everything from dorm room furnishings for Target to a line of LA-Z-BOY furniture to flowers for FTD, as well as principally designing major hotel projects. Through hosting "Todd Time" on MTV's House of Style and consulting on fashion for NBC's Today show, Oldham as become a beloved icon of popular design. He is also the author of Handmade Modern by Regan Books, and has hosted a series of specials on the theme for HGTV's Handmade Modern series.

Matt created a BLAH LOOKING monochromatic room with splashes of color for his family. He adorned the hallway with black and white photos of his wife and daughter, which the judges loved. The guest judge was concerned about the simplicity of the bedroom, but Matt argued that the client (himself) loved the bedroom. The judges decided that Matt is very chic, they like his use of color, and that his loft looked expensive, and they adored the room he made for his daughter.



Runner Up: Carisa

The judges couldn't stop talking about the "pit bed." Margaret said she expected to hate it but she loved it. Jonathan Adler said he could "imagine getting into some freaky scenes in that pit." They thought her selections were groovy, and that Carisa is fun, stylish and bold. But ultimately, Matt had the Top Design.

In the end, they were judged on overall design, originality, ingenuity, teamwork, and the ability to incorporate the destination's look into their design. The winners would receive a weekend getaway to the Viceroy hotel in Santa Monica. Erik could not be eliminated because he won immunity with last week's Top Design.



The designers were allowed to meet their clients this time. Their clients were students from the top primiere interior design schools in L.A. The top designers were to design a post-college living space where their clients could eat, sleep and work. The size of the space was only 12x12, and they were allowed 2.5 days for the challenge.

And of course, because the challenge needs a twist, they had to incorporate pieces from a garage sale in their designs. They were given a budget of $500.

A hollywood producer turned interior designer, Felicia has 20 years of experience, mostly in residential design. She been published in several magazines including Romantic Homes, Los Angeles Home and Décor and Metropol Felicia has completed 15 marathons and now does triathlons. She says: “I approach design like a marathon. I don’t stop until the end.” She finds inspiration in everything, including Gucci ads, but mostly by visiting art galleries. Two of her favorite artists are Paul Cezzane and Milton Avery.
